I rarely read such action novels but I think your latest published novel is a terrific combination of gripping yarn and thought provoking insight. The website is very provocative too. It’s a good story well told and there are some extremely memorable bits, especially the astonishingly well described climax at the Elephant Dance firestorm. Congratulations! Keep writing – I’ll certainly keep reading - and get your publisher to pitch to some film producers.

Your site describes the African setting with the complexity we know and love. I understand that you have a long and interesting history with Africa, I look forward to reading your perspective on the issues we face.

I just wanted to send you a note to let you know that I've finished reading Black Mongoose, and can I just tell you that I thought it was terrific!   It was truly as good to the end as it was the beginning and middle.   And boy, it just wouldn't slow down on the pace, very exciting to read and quite gripping.   I'm truly sorry it's over!

People can always tell a great book, when they put it down for the night and continue to think about  the characters until it gets picked up again the next evening.

That is how your book was.   I could actually feel like I was right there with Johnny and Lindi, Zee and Ephraim, with all the characters (good guys and bad guys!) and with the countryside too.

I am just so pleased that I had the privilege to melt into the story with each chapter.

I have had a look over your site and I'm very impressed with the content. I saw a lot of beautiful things and a lot very disturbing things when I was in Africa and admire your project very much. I have worked on several charity projects and I feel very comfortable with your message to the world and how you have used my image. I support you 100%."

The website is gorgeous, and the topic is certainly current and interesting!

Black Mongoose is a terrific novel: fast-paced, sexy and blood-spattered. Jon Haylett writes hard-boiled fiction with tremendous energy and an eye for unsettling truths.
