Cry of the Justice Bird is set in Boromundi, a small African country ravaged by civil wars.
It is a story of revenge.
Rebecca Wise and Annabel Mbanga, two young women on an outing to visit Annabel's mother, are killed when their minibus is involved in an accident.
Armstrong McKay, devastated by the death of the girl he loves, flies out from England to accompany Rebecca's body home. Amid the dancing, drink and catharsis of Rebecca's wake, he meets Annabel's husband, Temba, who reveals the brutal truth: there was no accident. The minibus was ambushed by a gang, and the women dragged from it, raped, and horribly mutilated.
Faced with a weak government and the severed stump of Boromundi's legal system, the two men wrestle with a stark choice: turn aside as the authorities wash their hands of murder, or mete out justice themselves.
In the darkness of the early morning rain, listening to the grating cry of Kisasi the Justice Bird, the two men make their decision: to track down the murderers one by one - and execute them.
